I graduated with honors from the University of Georgia in 1973 and earned my law degree from the UGA School of Law in 1976. I co-authored Georgia's leading DUI legal book and dedicate my practice to DUI defense litigation. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive top ratings from Martindale, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Best Law Firms in America. Since 1978, I’ve chaired or co-chaired over 60 legal seminars for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia (ICLE-GA). In 1991, I co-authored "101 Ways to Avoid a Drunk Driving Conviction" with the late Reese I. Joye, Jr. The next year, I chaired the first annual two-day seminar, Defense of Drinking Drivers, hosted by ICLE-GA. I had the privilege of speaking at the 1992 and 1993 ATLA conventions. In July 1994, I sponsored the first NHTSA training seminar for DUI defense lawyers in Atlanta, certifying 32 attorneys and expert witnesses as SFST practitioners. Later that year, in October, I organized and sponsored a seminar titled "Mastering Scientific Evidence in DUI-DWI Cases," which featured a mock trial with real jurors. This seminar is now managed annually by TCDLA. In 1995, I helped establish the National College for DUI Defense and served as a Regent for several years. That same year, I self-published "The Georgia DUI Trial Practice Manual," which is now published by Thomson-Reuters, the world's largest legal book publisher. I update this guide annually with the assistance of Larry Kohn and Cory Yager. The nationally recognized website DrunkDrivingDefense.com grew out of my first website, which I launched in August 1996. In 1997, I organized and funded the first four-day NHTSA training seminar for NHTSA instructors, aimed at helping criminal defense lawyers better understand police training programs. "I would highly recommend against hiring this lawyer. When you find yourself in a situation which is so stressful by default, you expect hiring a lawyer to ease some of that burden. On the contrary, William Jaksa only intensified it with his incompetency and unprofessional conduct. His relatively low fees and talk at the time of hiring him aren’t worth the headache and stress you’ll face when dealing with him. He was terrible at giving me any updates on the case and every time I had to contact him several times to even hear back (if I did at all that is) . All this caused setbacks and delays in a simple situation not to mention anxiety and stress. After discharging him(a bit too late), my new lawyer got everything done with finesse and expertise (the way you’d want from someone you trust) and I also found out that William jaksa had given me incorrect information about what was going on and wasn’t even truthful about the Crowns orders which I’m shocked at. I don’t know how this person is allowed to practice with how he acts. Completely unacceptable."
