Experiencing emotional, psychological, and interpersonal distress causes many people to feel isolated and alone. People need to feel connected and known to heal and grow. We are designed to seek belonging and acceptance from our community and when we experience adversity, trauma, or abuse we are robbed of that sense of connection and belonging. Our nervous system senses threats all around us, leading to further isolation and loneliness. The wisdom for healing lies within each person, sometimes we all need a little help to recognize it.
