Do you ever feel alone, unsafe, scared, or guilty? Even when things seem okay? It is very common for one part of our brain to feel that things are wrong, even if we don’t fully understand why or know what to do about it. This is particularly true for those who have experienced trauma in their lives - whether that be a specific traumatic event or the trauma of living in an oppressive, racist, transphobic, homophobic, and ableist system. In my personal and professional life as a queer, brown, and trauma-focused therapist, I have seen that therapy can help us process our past experiences and create a space for us to heal.
